French artisanal couture: why choose a handmade piece

Why I Chose Handcrafted Sewing
I’ve been sewing for over 30 years now—a passion born from a simple need: to wear clothes I couldn't find anywhere else.
Ever since I was little, fashion has fascinated me. I used to write lists of clothes I dreamed of, pieces I imagined in my head… but never found in stores. Back then, consumption was very different: people bought little, but they bought better.
Clothes were often made in France, from quality materials, and designed to last several years. I still own some pieces from that era, especially from Cacharel or Sym, which I still wear today.

The Arrival of Fast Fashion: More Options, But Less Soul
When brands like H&M and Zara arrived, fashion became more accessible, faster, more varied, but also more standardized. The prices were attractive, but the quality was no longer there. Collections looked similar, fabrics creased easily, and finishes left much to be desired.
And most importantly, I couldn't find the materials or the cuts I liked.
Creating My Own Clothes: A Revelation
That's how I decided to learn to sew. To create clothes that reflected me, with fabrics I loved, and that I wouldn't see on everyone else.
Sewing was a revelation. It opened the doors to an infinite universe: that of beautiful materials, rich colors, quality fabrics, often from couture house deadstock.
With my hands, I could finally bring unique, durable creations to life that told a story.

Why I Continue Today
Today, with Carlis, I offer clothes hand-sewn in France, in very small batches. Each piece is designed to last, to enhance the woman who wears it, and to preserve that rare connection between the garment and the woman who chooses it.
By creating, I want to prove that you can still love fashion without giving up:
-
the quality of fabrics
-
personalization
-
authenticity
-
and the respect for artisanal craftsmanship
Thank you for following this adventure.
I hope my creations inspire you as much as sewing has inspired me all these years.
